I AM THAT

I AM THAT (IAT) began to show interest in music from a very young age. Born in the middle of war and chaos, his first experiences in life were that of fighting and destruction. As a child, IAT found solace in the music that was available to him.

At the age of 6 his family moved to Malaga, Spain and later came to the United States. His musical progression came natural to him. By the age of 13, IAT began taking existing beats and adding different sounds and instruments to make his own music. A year later he heard an electronic dance track for the first time, and it touched the deepest part of him.

"I knew that's where I came from, it's hard to explain. Music is a way of communication, without boundaries, that goes beyond the limits of language and words. Communicating through sound, without preset definitions, comes from a truer source that is pure and potent with color and movement. If I can make the crowd feel what I'm feeling, then I have done my job."

IAT began DJing middle school and high school parties, and by the time he was 20 years old, his music had already started to receive recognition and he began playing larger clubs and larger crowds. Over the next 7 years, IAT held residencies and played some of the largest L.A., New York, and Florida clubs & events alongside names like Christopher Lawrence, Swedish Egil, Ferry Corsten, Sasha, Josef Cristofer, Johnathan Thomas, John Bishop, Chemical Brothers, Lavelle Dupree, DJ Irene, Cody Lee Williams, and the list goes on.

At the age of 27, IAT's life came to a crossroads. He realized that in order to be happy, he needed to take a look at his life all the way back to his childhood, and confront the chaos he had experienced. He committed the next four years of his life to finding his true self and committed himself to his family. During this time he also decided to become completely sober, so that he could dedicate his life to family, music, and career. With this clarity and balance, the music came back to him ten fold.

Since his return to the music scene in 2010, IAT has been in production and playing alongside some of the hottest names in the EDM scene. His sound and skill are rare. Some clubs on his resume include Avalon, Ecco Ultra Lounge, Factory, Space, Beach Club, Club Escape, Soho, Standard, Sky, 9000, After Hour Power, Key Club, and some of the hottest clubs in the U.S. He is recognized for his unique sound and for energizing dance floors with tantalizing beats. His style is without boundaries, with influences from progressive, tech, electro, funky, deep, and tribal house.
